Our latest version of TNSR® software, Release 22.02, is now available.
If you are new to the product, TNSR is a vRouter solution focused on high-performance edge routing, cloud connectivity, and robust IPsec site-to-site VPN needs for businesses and service providers. The product's value prop is simple: astounding router throughput - virtually impervious to packet size or level of encryption - at unbeatable price points. TNSR software achieves this by integrating Vector Packet Processing (VPP), Free Range Routing (FRR) - and a number of other open-source projects along with Netgate-designed control and management planes - into a production-ready, secure networking solution. This relieves organizations from having to invest in the expertise, time, and expense required to extend open-source project software into production-ready, professionally-supported commercial solutions.
As referenced in a previous blog, we began the effort to move the underlying OS base from CentOS to Ubuntu last year - driven by Red Hat's shift from CentOS Linux to CentOS Stream. Release 22.02 is the first TNSR software release to run over an Ubuntu Long Term Support (LTS) release, specifically Ubuntu Server 20.04. Ubuntu is now the primary operating system for TNSR. New TNSR software installations will only be supported on Ubuntu.
In addition to the new Ubuntu operating system, release 22.02 also provides a host of updates to the product’s command line interface, network interface management capabilities, NAT, virtual routing and forwarding (VRF), and overall system manageability.
As well, many of our users will be excited to learn we've added a configuration rollback timer. This feature allows users to easily revert to a previous configuration, should that be desired.
TNSR software is available as a bare metal image for non-Netgate appliances and virtual machines, as software instances on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud service provider marketplaces, and on Netgate 1537 and 1541 turnkey appliances.
We also offer a fully-featured, no-charge instance for non-commercial home and lab evaluation use.
