Position Overview

The Accountant II/Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance department with all financial tasks as needed. This role requires methodical, analytical, organizational and administrative skill coupled with efficiency, ability to build to Best Practices and tolerance of volatile workload. This position maintains accurate financial records and reporting to meet customer expectations and company goals.

Primary Responsibilities

During the first three to six months of employment, this employee assist the Director of Finance with:

  • Manufacturing and financial analytics
  • Management dashboards
  • Financial statement review/System Clean Up
  • Developing sustainable interim processes for reporting financial metrics during an ERP implementation
  • Cross train for 1C and Shopify admin tasks

Additional duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Monthly trial balance and financial statement review
  • AP and AR processing/reporting
  • Reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed assets
  • Inventory reporting and valuation
  • Assist with sales tax filings
  • Develop and maintain AWS, Azure and Amazon Marketplace dashboard reporting
  • Identify problems in accounting and/or operations processes and work with Manufacturing Production Lead and Director of Finance to resolve them in a timely manner while proactively looking to prevent the same issue in future transactions
  • Maintain clear and accurate accounting documents and procedures for reference and training purposes
  • Assist Administrative Manager with company functions, facility tasks and receptionist duties
  • Assist with dog entertainment and recapture exercises upon accidental release :-)
  • Other duties as assigned

Backup Roles

  • Post sales work – tickets, phones, order look up
  • Amazon marketplace
  • Denied parties screening
  • Vacation coverage for other staff in same reporting sector

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong understanding of financial statement composition and review
  • Experience with financial dashboards
  • 3-5 years accounting experience
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices and functions
  • Knowledge of general accounting reporting
  • Advanced working ability in Excel/Google Sheets, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to focus and meet deadlines
  • Establish and maintain reliable internet connectivity in a quiet home-office environment (if necessary for work from home)
  • Demonstrated professionalism – the ability to be empathetic, accurate, responsive, resourceful, patient, tolerant and conscientious
  • Demonstrated drive to perform accurately, efficiently and on target
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in team environment
  • Ability to work effectively and responsibly while unsupervised with a superior work ethic
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation and standard office equipment as well as use a telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels, on the telephone or via teleconference, with or without sound aids
  • Possess superior organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Possess superior customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand, walk and bend over, reach overhead, grasp, push and move, lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds at waist height

Additional Desired Skills

  • Manufacturing or cost accounting experience
  • Experience with 1C Enterprise software
  • Experience with Shopify Plus eCommerce platform
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
