Neumann & Müller (N&M) provides full-service event technology solutions, including audio, lighting, video, rigging, stage, and IT, for organizations that host events such as corporate clients, trade fairs, congresses, and venues.
N&M operates across roughly 20 locations, with each site serving between fewer than 10 and over 100 users, and over 900 employees across the business. With a network of this scale and variety, N&M needed a way to standardize its site networking rather than maintaining a mix of hardware and configurations across locations. ESBYTE acted as the local distributor on this project, supporting product selection, technical advice, and rollout assistance throughout.
N&M had been running prosumer-grade router hardware from various brands across its sites. While the devices functioned, they began to fail intermittently, creating reliability concerns and a need for a more robust, maintainable solution. N&M also wanted to standardize its networking approach across all locations, having previously had good experience with pfSense® Plus within the company.
A mix of prosumer-grade router hardware from various vendors was in use across sites.
With around 20 locations, each running its own hardware and configuration, there was no standard approach across the network.
Sites varied from fewer than 10 to over 100 users, meaning any solution needed to work efficiently for both small branches and larger locations.
ESBYTE supported N&M, who already had prior in-house experience with pfSense Plus, in selecting and rolling out Netgate hardware appliances across the full site network. Larger sites were equipped with Netgate 6100 MAX appliances, while smaller branches were equipped with Netgate 2100 MAX appliances, both deployed as on-site hardware. Implementation was carried out in-house by N&M, with ESBYTE providing product selection, technical advice, and rollout support throughout.
Netgate 6100 MAX for larger sites and Netgate 2100 MAX for smaller branches, both sharing a simple, identical user interface.
Dedicated lines configured for seamless connectivity between locations.
Configured to keep traffic flowing without manual intervention if a primary connection is disrupted.
A standard configuration was developed once and applied consistently across sites. In many cases, appliances were shipped pre-configured directly to site: the user simply plugged the device in, and it went live, with no on-site appointment required.
N&M handled rollout internally, with ESBYTE supporting product selection, technical advice, and assistance throughout.
Stability has improved compared with the previous prosumer-grade hardware.
A consistent setup that is easy to apply and maintain across the full network, regardless of site size.
Exact metrics are not tracked internally, but N&M has reported noticeably higher throughput and improved uptime compared with the previous hardware.
A fully centrally managed solution is still in progress, but the new setup already saves considerable time by eliminating repetitive, site-specific manual configuration.
N&M reported fast, uncomplicated, solution-oriented support from ESBYTE throughout the project.
