Taking any advice on this page WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
This directory has copies of the 1.1.0 PRI firmware and 1.3.4, 1.3.6 and 1.4.9 STA firmware all in zip files. Don't mess with the firmware unless you understand exactly what you're doing. Loading the right PRI and wrong STA (or vice-versa) will cause your card to become inoperable and will void your warranty.
Step 1:
Here is an excellent write-up of information on flashing the prism firmware using a variety of tools that you must read before proceeding. Really: http://linux.junsun.net/intersil-prism/
use 1.4.9 unless you've got code that implments WDS (the real 4-address mode needs at last 1.5.6) or you've got code that implements WPA (requires 1.7.4).
Step 2:
Firmware in this directory:
1.1.0.zip
1.3.4.zip
1.3.6.zip
1.4.9.zip
1.5.6.zip
1.7.4.zip
SF010800.HEX
STA_24071bin.zip
Step 3:
What happens if I make a mistake? After reading the link above. you decide to proceed and you mess up, what can you do?
If you deleted the PDA, you probably lost/destroyed the calibration information.
I'd recommend getting a linux box together and using the hostap driver to attempt to recover the card. I (and others) have had better luck that way. Also, why are you trying to re-write the PRI firmware if its already running?
Try just this:
flash -legacy -3v -on -i SF010409.HEX
flash -legacy -g -p nl2511.pda -spi -hf -5v -on
yes, the card has a 3842 in it, so you can use -3842 for genesis mode.
I think using hostap is safer.
Firmware hint:
Don't update the firmware unless you really know what you're doing. Did we mention this will void your warranty?
