Assembly / Logistics Technician

The Assembly / Logistics Technician role is responsible for building all units offered by Netgate as well as maintaining production efficiency and output. This role requires technical, organizational and administrative skill coupled with efficiency, ability to build to Best Practices and tolerance of volatile workload. The Assembly/Logistics Technician maintains levels of acceptable build, shipping, and output performance to meet customer expectations and company goals. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform assembly of rackmount and desktop router systems accurately and efficiently;
    • Read and interpret assembly guides
    • Pick appropriate components
    • Complete final assembly
    • Perform operating system load and burn in test
    • Affix product identification and compliance labeling
    • Assist in laser etching operations
  • Understand the coordination of expedites, partner, Netgate store, Amazon, and back orders;
  • Assist the Manufacturing Production Lead in coordination of all build room activities to ensure efficient production flow and timely shipping to customers;
  • Prioritize and process a large volume of orders quickly to meet daily shipping deadlines;
  • Understand international shipping requirements including export documentation, harmonized tariff codes, ECCN, denied parties screening, NAFTA, etc.;
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce accurate packing processes including cross-check to ensure customer orders are shipped correctly and arrive undamaged;
  • Cross-train with all build ops staff to ensure maximum flexibility in resources and assignments;
  • Assist management with dashboards, metrics, and analytics as needed;
  • Assist with inventory procedures as directed;
  • Assist with facility projects as directed;
  • Identify problems in operations processes and work with Manufacturing Production Lead to resolve them in a timely manner while proactively looking to prevent the same issue in future transactions;
  • Maintain clear and accurate operations documents and procedures for reference and training purposes;
  • Meet goals and objectives set by leadership;
  • Assist with dog entertainment and participate in recapture exercises upon accidental release.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of technical build, manufacturing processes, repair practices and general
    troubleshooting techniques for electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of shipping processes for both domestic and international packages
  • Demonstrated professionalism – the ability to be empathetic, accurate, responsive, resourceful,
    patient, tolerant, and conscientious is required
  • Past work experience in a manufacturing/eCommerce environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in team environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation and standard office equipment
  • Ability to enter data into a computer workstation, operate standard office equipment and use a
    telephone
  • Possess superior organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Possess superior customer service and interpersonal skills including interaction with difficult
    personalities
  • Familiarity with presentation software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to stand, walk and bend over, reach overhead, grasp, push and move, lift and/or carry up
    to 50 pounds at waist height
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels, on the telephone or via teleconference
  • High school diploma/GED

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS

  • Proven experience with higher level technical build and development of manufacturing Best
    Practices documentation
  • Superior Excel or Numbers experience including dashboard and metrics reporting
  • International shipping experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and improve processes
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
