This week Netgate® is pleased to launch sales for Netgate Nexus Multi-Instance Management. Netgate Nexus revolutionizes multi-instance management for pfSense® Plus by empowering operators to effortlessly manage hundreds of pfSense Plus instances through a secure, unified, and intuitive interface.
The Netgate Nexus Multi-Instance Management (MIM) system consists of a controller and its managed instances. Upon activation and configuration of the service on the controller and managed devices, a secure private tunnel is established for communication between the clients and the controller. This zero-trust VPN is designed using the Noise Protocol Framework, which is a well-regarded framework used to construct secure channel protocols, and ensures secure communication between participants.
Once connected, instances can be managed by a network operator by issuing direct API calls to the controller or via the Multi-Instance Management GUI. This paradigm provides a powerful toolbox with the freedom and flexibility to tailor device management to fit the individual needs of network operators. Netgate has also provided an API toolkit available on GitHub, to accelerate the implementation.
Netgate Nexus comes bundled with pfSense Plus. pfSense Plus software version 25.11 or newer is required in order to utilize Multi-Instance Management. The initial Netgate Nexus license comes with the ability to manage the pfSense Plus instance that the controller runs on. Additional managed instances may be purchased at the Netgate store, and applied to the Netgate Nexus controller license. Please see our FAQ for more information.
