Most Atheros drivers work with most Atheros-based cards. If there is a release that is specific to a card, it will be mentioned below. Please use good system administration practices before installing new software: always make a backup.
The following are Atheros miniPCI cards. The same driver will usually work with the Atheros Cardbus cards.
The fifth and sixth generation AR5005 and AR5006 chipsets may need a different driver.
Most manufacturers of Windows based laptops will supply their version of miniPCI drivers with the card, or will have a download available from their website. We strongly suggest you check with your vendor first, as they sometimes have additional tools or quirks (such as the WiFi ON/OFF button - also called RF Kill) which are supported only in the drivers they supply.
